Nourisi® Semi-refined carrageenan, food additive code E407a, also known as PES (Processed Eucheuma Seaweed), is a natural hydrophilic polysaccharide produced from red algae (mainly of the Eucheuma genus) through processes such as washing, alkali treatment, drying, and pulverization.
Compared to refined carrageenan, semi-refined carrageenan retains some of the seaweed fiber structure, maintaining good gelling and thickening properties while offering cost advantages and prominent natural properties.
