Nourisi ®PAC Cellulose is a high-performance, water-soluble anionic polymer derived from natural cellulose through chemical etherification. It appears as a white to off-white, free-flowing powder or granules that is odorless, non-toxic, and readily soluble in both cold and hot water. PAC is produced by introducing carboxymethyl groups (−CH₂COONa) onto the cellulose backbone, resulting in a sodium salt form with a high degree of substitution (DS typically ≥0.85). This chemical modification significantly enhances the polymer's water solubility, electrolyte tolerance, and thermal stability, making PAC cellulose far more effective than conventional Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) in demanding environments.
The product features high purity (55-95% depending on grade), high degree of substitution, and uniform substitution distribution, which translates to superior performance consistency . When dissolved in water, PAC forms a clear, transparent viscous liquid .
PAC Cellulose is available in multiple viscosity grades to suit different application requirements:
PAC Cellulose-HV (High Viscosity)
PAC Cellulose-LV (Low Viscosity)
PAC Cellulose-R
| PAC Cellulose-HV | High Viscosity (≥50 mPa·s) | Viscosifier + fluid loss control + rheology modifier |
| PAC Cellulose-LV | Low Viscosity (≤40 mPa·s) | Fluid loss control with minimal viscosity impact |
| PAC Cellulose R | Medium Viscosity | Balanced performance for general applications |
Nourisi ®PAC Cellulose is a versatile product used in numerous industries, often as a high-performance substitute for CMC
Fluid Loss Control: PAC Cellulose forms a thin, low-permeability filter cake on the borehole wall, significantly reducing filtrate invasion into permeable formations . This prevents formation damage, maintains wellbore stability, and reduces the risk of differential sticking .
Rheology Modification & Hole Cleaning: PAC Cellulose increases the viscosity and yield point of drilling fluids, improving the suspension and transport of drill cuttings to the surface . This ensures effective hole cleaning, particularly in deviated and horizontal wells.
Shale Inhibition & Wellbore Stabilization: PAC Cellulose encapsulates drill solids and exposed shales, reducing clay dispersion and protecting water-sensitive formations from hydration damage. This improves wellbore integrity and reduces the risk of collapse in reactive shale formations.
Workover & Completion Fluids: PAC Cellulose is used in low-solids workover fluids that minimize formation damage. These fluids provide low fluid loss and do not block production zones due to solid invasion .
Fracturing Fluids: PAC Cellulose-based fracturing fluids gel quickly, exhibit excellent proppant-carrying capacity, and can be prepared on-site. They perform particularly well in low-permeability formations
PAC Cellulose serves as a high-performance water retention agent and thickener in construction materials :
Cement slurries and grouts – Improves water retention, ensuring complete hydration of binders
Tile adhesives – Enhances workability and open time
Mortars and plasters – Prevents cracking due to rapid drying
Self-leveling compounds – Controls rheology for proper flow and leveling
Nourisi ®PAC Cellulose exhibits extraordinary and useful properties:
Low Viscosity: Minimal viscosity build while maintaining excellent performance
Superior Fluid Loss Control: Outstanding filtration control properties (API fluid loss ≤ 15 ml)
Excellent Thermal Stability: Maintains performance in high-temperature environments
High Salt Tolerance: Effective in fresh water, seawater, and saturated brine systems
pH Stability: Performs consistently across wide pH range (3-11)
Shear-Thinning Behavior: Exhibits reversible viscosity reduction under shear stress
Suspension Ability: Effective in suspending solids and preventing settlement
Nourisi ®PAC Cellulose conforms to API 13A. However, we recommend that the user ensure that this product is in compliance with the local regulations in force, particularly in the country where the product is to be consumed.
